Jura is an island set out in the wild windy seas off the west of Scotland, looking east across a stretch of water known as the Sound of Jura to the Kintyre peninsula, and west to the shores of Islay, Colonsay and the expanse of the northern Atlantic. It’s known for a few special things – there’s the desolation, there’s a fell race, there’s the whisky, there’s the house where George Orwell wrote 1984, then there was the burning of a million pounds, and there’s the music and the people.
Sound of Jura is also the name of our studio and creative business on the island; we promote and make music and arts events, and now, we’re proud to say, we are a record label too.
These pages are where we’ll tell about the label, and the artists we produce. For now, we’ve got one thing to tell you about – the new Karl Culley album Phosphor, the second he’s made on Jura, and our first release.
